     Hon. Gerald Ernest Francis Ward was born on 9 November 1877.1 He was the son of William Ward, 1st Earl of Dudley and Georgina Elisabeth Moncreiffe.1 He married Lady Evelyn Selina Louisa Crichton, daughter of John Henry Crichton, 4th Earl Erne of Crom Castle and Lady Florence Mary Cole, on 7 November 1899.1 He died on 30 October 1914 at age 36, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 1st Life Guards.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)1 He fought in the First World War.1

     Rachel Gurney was born on 8 August 1868.3 She was the daughter of Charles Henry Gurney and Alice Marie Prinsep.1 She married William Humble Ward, 2nd Earl of Dudley, son of William Ward, 1st Earl of Dudley and Georgina Elisabeth Moncreiffe, on 14 September 1891.1 She died on 26 June 1920 at age 51.1
     From 14 September 1891, her married name became Ward. After her marriage, Rachel Gurney was styled as Countess of Dudley on 14 September 1891. She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)1

     William Humble Eric Ward, 3rd Earl of Dudley was born on 20 January 1894.1 He was the son of William Humble Ward, 2nd Earl of Dudley and Rachel Gurney.4 He married, firstly, Lady Rosemary Millicent Leveson-Gower, daughter of Cromartie Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, 4th Duke of Sutherland and Lady Millicent Fanny St. Clair-Erskine, on 8 March 1919.1 He married, secondly, Frances Laura Charteris, daughter of Captain Hon. Guy Lawrence Charteris and Frances Lucy Tennant, on 25 February 1943.1 He and Frances Laura Charteris were divorced in 1954.1 He married, thirdly, Grace Maria Kolin, daughter of Dr. Michael Kolin, on 17 July 1961.1 He died on 26 December 1969 at age 75.1
