     Sir Cemnydd George Traherne was born on 14 December 1910.1 He was the son of Commander Llewellyn Edmund Traherne and Dorothy Emma Olivia Sinclair.1 He married Olivera Rowena Binney, daughter of James Binney and Lady Violet Louisa Marjory Brudenell-Bruce, in 1934.1 He died on 26 January 1995 at age 84.1
     He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Glamorgan between 1952 and 1954.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) on 23 April 1970.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of South, Mid and West Glamorgan between 1974 and 1978.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1
