     John Sibthorp was born on 28 October 1758 at Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was the son of Humphrey Sibthorp and Elizabeth Gibbes.1 He died on 8 February 1796 at age 37.1
     He was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He wrote the book Flora Oxoniensis, published 1794.
