Hon. James Master Owen Byng was born on 20 July 1818.1 He was the son of Vice-Admiral George Byng, 6th Viscount Torrington and Frances Harriet Barlow.2 He married Caroline Louisa Cook, daughter of William Cook, on 5 August 1856.1 He died on 21 May 1897 at age 78, without issue.1
He was a practising barrister.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kent.1
