     George Tyssen Butler was born on 12 October 1943.1 He is the son of Major Tyssen Desmond Butler and Dorothy West.2 He married Mary Victoria Leiter, daughter of Thomas Leiter and Marion Saffold Oates, in May 1970.1
     He was educated at Groton School, Groton, Massachusetts, U.S.A.G.1 He graduated from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, U.S.A.G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was a writer for Newsweek.1 He wrote the book Pumping Iron.1 He wrote the book The New Soldier, with Senator John F. Kerry.1 A producer and director of movies, inclduing Pumping Iron (1977), Pumping Iron II (1985), In the Blood, The Endurance: Shackleton's Legendary Antarctic Expedition (2001), Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure (IMAX 2001.)1 He was awarded the BAFTA Award in 2001 for a TV version of Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure.1 He lived in 2003 at True Farm, Holderness, New Hampshire, U.S.A.G.1

     From 9 July 1896, her married name became Butler.

     Antoine Sloet Butler was born on 11 October 1823.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Butler, 8th Bt. and Frances Graham-Clarke.1 He married, firstly, Mary Matilda Beresford, daughter of Reverend George Hamilton de la Poer Beresford and Elizabeth Nisbet, in September 1854.1 He married, secondly, Eliza Stevenson, daughter of Reverend Joseph Stevenson, on 29 April 1875.1 He died on 25 December 1901 at age 78.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 7th Dragoon Guards.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He held the office of Divisional Magistrate [Ireland] between 1883 and 1888.1
