Sir Herbert Mackworth, 1st Bt. was born on 1 January 1736/37.1 He was the son of Herbert Mackworth and Hon. Juliana Digby.2 He married Eliza Trefusis, daughter of Robert Trefusis and Elizabeth Affleck, in 1759.1
He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1757 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1759 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.1 He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1760 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Glamorgan Militia.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cardiff between 1766 and 1790.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1 He was vice-president of the Marine Society.1 He was created 1st Baronet Mackworth, of the Gnoll, Glamorgan [Great Britain] on 16 September 1776.1 He lived on 25 October 1791 blood poisoning following failure to pull out a thorn.1

Frances Mackworth was born on 28 August 1731.1 She was the daughter of Herbert Mackworth and Hon. Juliana Digby.2 She married, firstly, Alexander Falconer, 5th Lord Falconer of Halkertoun, son of David Falconer, 4th Lord Falconer of Halkertoun and Lady Catherine Margaret Keith, on 25 June 1757.1 She married, secondly, Anthony Joseph Browne, 7th Viscount Montagu, son of Anthony Browne, 6th Viscount Montagu and Barbara Webb, on 22 July 1765.1 She married, thirdly, Henry Slaughter on 21 May 1800.3 She died on 3 March 1814 at age 82.1
