Sir James Hamilton of Broomhill, 1st Bt. was born before 1595.1 He was the son of John Hamilton, 3rd of Broomhill.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Hamilton, daughter of William Hamilton, 5th of Udston and Margaret Hamilton, before 1610.3 He married, secondly, Jean Hamilton before 1647.4 He died in 1658.2 He died before 1647.3
He was created 1st Baronet Hamilton, of Broomhill [Nova Scotia] on 5 January 1635, which included a grant of 16,000 acres in Nova Scotia (of which he never had seizin.)3 He held the office of Sheriff of Perthshire.3

Sir John Henderson, 5th of Fordell was born circa 1599/0.2 He was the son of Sir John Henderson, 4th of Fordell and Agnes Balfour.3 He married Margaret Menteith, daughter of William Menteith of Randiford and Jean Bruce, on 7 February 1625.3 He died on 11 March 1650.3
He was a distinguished soldier, taken prisoner when commanding at the African Coast, ransomed, and later served in Civil War.3 He was appointed Knight by King Charles I.3
