     From 24 June 1874, her married name became Thomson.¹ After her marriage, Frances Anna Blandy was styled as Baroness Kelvin on 23 February 1892.

     Charles Ridpath Blandy was born in 1812 at Madeira, Portugal^G.² He was the son of John Davis Blandy and Janet Burden.² He married Mary Anne Symonds, daughter of Richard Symonds and Frances Gilbert, on 1 September 1835 at St. George the Martyr, Bloomsbury, London, England^G.³ He died on 29 September 1879 at Great Western Hotel, Paddington, London, England^G.³
     He lived at Madeira, Portugal^G.⁴
