David Jardine of Jardinehall was born on 4 August 1847.1 He was the son of James Jardine and Jessie Johnstone.1 He married Mary Angela Bright, daughter of Sir Charles Tilston Bright and Hannah Barrick Taylor, on 14 January 1886.1 He died on 23 August 1922 at age 75, leaving issue.1
He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was barrister.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1896.1 He lived at Jardinehall, Lockerbie, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1

Sir Robert Jardine of Castlemilk, 1st Bt. was born on 24 May 1825.1 He was the son of David Jardine and Rachel Johnstone.1 He married Margaret Seton Hamilton, daughter of John Buchanan Hamilton and Margaret Seton, in April 1867.1 He died on 17 February 1905 at age 79.1
He was head of the firm of Jardine, Matheson, China merchants in 1865.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Ashburton between 1865 and 1868.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Dumfries Burghs between 1868 and 1874.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Dumfries-shire between 1880 and 1892.1 He was created 1st Baronet Jardine, of Castlemilk, co. Dumfries [U.K.] on 20 July 1885.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Perthshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Perthshire.1
