     Major Charles Edmund Phipps was born on 11 June 1844.¹ He was the son of Hon. Sir Charles Beaumont Phipps and Margaret Anne Bathurst.¹ He married Susan Stewart Geddes, daughter of Very Rev. John Gamble Geddes, on 2 June 1868.¹ He died on 29 November 1906 at age 62.¹
     He held the office of Page of Honour and Groom-in-Waiting in Ordinary to HM Queen Victoria.¹
