     John Bell was born on 24 May 1806.¹ He was the son of Archibald Bell and Catherine McKellar.¹ He married, firstly, Christian McQueen, daughter of David McQueen, on 11 November 1827.¹ He married, secondly, Helen Colquhoun, daughter of John Colquhoun, on 28 January 1845.¹ He died on 25 July 1881 at age 75.¹
     He lived at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹
