     Joseph Christian Corbyn was born on 29 August 1829 at Barrackpore, India.1 He was the son of Frederick Corbyn and Emma Fisher.1 He married Eliza Ann Tickell, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Richard Tickell and Margaret Scott, on 18 June 1863 at St. Mary's Church, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He died on 24 October 1912 at age 83 at Leckhampton, Gloucestershire, England.1
     He gained the rank of Deputy Surgeon-General in the 59th Bengal Native Infantry.1
