Francis Price Blackwood was born on 25 May 1809.1 He was the son of Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir Henry Blackwood, 1st Bt. and Harriet Gore.1 He married Jemima Sarah Strode on 12 October 1848.1 He died on 22 March 1854 at age 44.1
He was Commanding Officer of the corvette Fly in the first hydrographic survey for exploring and charting the north-east Australian coast.1
