     Marjory Gill was the daughter of George Gill.1 She married Reginald Clifford Allen, 1st and last Baron Allen of Hurtwood, son of Walter Allen and Frances Augusta Baker, on 17 December 1921.1 She died on 11 April 1976.2
     From 17 December 1921, her married name became Allen.1 After her marriage, Marjory Gill was styled as Baroness Allen of Hurtwood on 18 January 1932.

     Robert Munro, 1st and last Baron Alness was born on 28 May 1868 at Alness, Ross-shire, ScotlandG.1,2 He was the son of Reverend Alexander Rose Munro and Margaret Sinclair.1 He was baptised at Alness, Ross-shire, ScotlandG.2 He married, firstly, Edith Gwladys Evans, daughter of Reverend John Llewellyan Evans, on 8 September 1898 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2 He married, secondly, Olga Marie Grumler, daughter of Jean Georges Grumler, on 29 October 1921.2 He died on 6 October 1955 at age 87, without issue.1
     He was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.2 He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)2 He was educated in 1888 at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2 He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was admitted to Scots Bar, as an Advocate in 1893.1 He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1910.1 He was Counsel to the Board of Inland Revenue.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wick between 1910 and 1918.1 He held the office of Lord Advocate [Scotland] between 1913 and 1916.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 19 December 1913.1,2 He held the office of Secretary of State for Scotland between 1916 and 1922.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Roxburgh and Selkirk between 1918 and 1922.1 He graduated in 1919 with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)2 He held the office of Lord President of the 2nd Division of the Court of Session between 1922 and 1923.1 He held the office of Lord Justice Clerk between 1922 and 1923.1 He held the office of Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1924.1 He was created 1st Baron Alness, of Alness in co. of Ross and Cromarty [U.K.] on 27 June 1934.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Edinburgh.1 He held the office of Lord-in-Waiting to HM King George VI in 1945.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1947.1
