     He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1725 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Michael's, Cornwall in 1741.¹ He held the office of Baron of the Exchequer in 1745.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1753.¹ He held the office of Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in 1753.¹ He lived at Wormbridge, Herefordshire, England.¹

     Rebecca Clive was the daughter of Richard Clive and Rebecca Gaskell.¹ She married Reverend Robert Clive, son of Reverend Benjamin Clive and Susannah Floyer, on 26 November 1759.¹ She died in 1825.¹
