     Michael George Prendergast was the son of Miles Prendergast.2 He married, firstly, Catherine Frances Smith, daughter of George Smith, on 4 August 1791 at Calcutta, India.2 He married, secondly, Rosetta Smyth, daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir Skeffington Edward Smyth, 1st and last Bt. and Margaret Daly, in March 1811.1 He died in 1834.2
     He gained the rank of Ensign in 1786 in the East India Company Service.2 He retired from the military in 1789.2 He was inspector of indigo in 1807.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Saltash between 1809 and 1818.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Galway between 1820 and 1826.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Gatton between 1826 and 1830.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westbury between 1830 and 1831.2
