     Hon. Sir Matthew Robert Best was born on 18 June 1878.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. George Best, 5th Baron Wynford and Edith Anne Marsh.2 He married Annis Elizabeth Wood, daughter of Charles Frederic Wood, on 2 January 1908.1 He died on 13 October 1940 at age 62.1
     He fought in the First World War.1 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) and bar.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V between 1927 and 1928.2 He was Rear-Admiral of the 2nd Cruiser Squadron between 1929 and 1931.1 He was Admiral Superintendant of the Malta Dockyard between 1931 and 1934.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in 1932.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the America and West Indies Station between 1934 and 1937.1 He gained the rank of Admiral in 1936.1

     Captain George Frederic Matthew Best was born on 14 December 1908.1 He was the son of Hon. Sir Matthew Robert Best and Annis Elizabeth Wood.2 He married Rosemary Elizabeth Brooks, daughter of Major John Chadwick Brooks, on 26 July 1940.1 He died on 7 March 1994 at age 85.1
     He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He was Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence between 1956 and 1958.1 He was Commodore of the Arabian Seas and Persian Gulf between 1958 and 1960.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1960.1 He held the office of Member, Dorset County Council between 1962 and 1985.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1985.1
