Major Walter Granville Stuart-Menteth was born on 24 April 1906.1 He was the son of Walter Erskine Stuart-Menteth and Violet Grace Lafone.2 He married, firstly, Marianne Marguerite Cuenod, daughter of Jules Cuenod, on 5 June 1937.1 He and Marianne Marguerite Cuenod were divorced in 1950.1 He married, secondly, Edith Pauline Wadsworth, daughter of James Harold Wadsworth, on 2 November 1957.1 He died on 25 November 1970 at age 64.1
