Sir William Smith-Marriott, 8th Bt. was born on 5 August 1865.1 He was the son of John Bosworth Smith-Marriott and Julia Frances Radclyffe.2 He married, firstly, Charlotte Marianne Austen, daughter of John Francis Austen, on 19 April 1887.1 He married, secondly, Elinor Louisa Maude, daughter of Ludlow Eustace Maude and Clara Louisa Madden, on 5 December 1911.1 He died on 21 December 1943 at age 78.1
