Sir John McFarland, 1st Bt. was born on 15 September 1848.1 He married Annie Talbot, daughter of John Talbot, on 15 May 1893.1 He died on 28 May 1926 at age 77.1

Sir Basil Alexander Talbot McFarland, 2nd Bt. was born on 18 February 1898.1 He was the son of Sir John McFarland, 1st Bt. and Annie Talbot.2 He married, firstly, Annie Kathleen Henderson, daughter of Andrew Henderson, on 10 September 1924.1 He married, secondly, Mary Eleanor Dougan, daughter of William Dougan, on 2 July 1955.1 He died on 5 March 1986 at age 88.1
He was educated at Bedford School, Bedford, Bedfordshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, with the Artists Rifles.1 He was chairman of Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway.1 He was chairman of Lanes (Derry) Ltd.1 He was chairman of Sir Alfred McAlpine & Son (NI.)1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet McFarland, of Aberfoyle, co.
