Rear-Admiral Charles James FitzGerald, 1st and last Baron Lecale of Ardglass was born on 30 June 1756.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. James FitzGerald, 1st Duke of Leinster and Lady Emilia Mary Lennox.1 He died on 18 February 1810 at age 53 at Ardglass Castle, County Down, IrelandG.
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kildare [Ireland] between 1776 and 1790.1 He was Commissioner of Customs between 1789 and 1792.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1790 in the Royal Navy.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Cavan [Ireland] between 1790 and 1797.1 He held the office of Muster Master-General of Ireland between 1792 and 1806.1 He held the office of Sheriff of County Down in 1798.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ardfert [Ireland] between 1798 and 1800.1 He was created 1st Baron Lecale of Ardglass, co.
