Sir Francis Crossley, 1st Bt. was born on 26 October 1817.2 He is the son of John Crossley and Martha Turner.1,2 He married Martha Eliza Brinton, daughter of Henry Brinton, on 11 October 1845.2 He died on 5 January 1872 at age 54.2
He was a carpet manufacturer.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Halifax between 1852 and 1859.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the North-West Riding, Yorkshire between 1859 and 1872.2 He was created 1st Baronet Crossley [U.K.] on 23 January 1863.2
