     Lewis Arthur Milles-Lade, 3rd Earl Sondes was born on 3 October 1866 at Kent, England^G.¹ He was the son of George Watson Milles, 1st Earl Sondes and Charlotte Stracey.² He married Emma Beatrice Wallace, daughter of Percy Hale Wallace, on 9 September 1913.³ He died on 17 January 1941 at age 74, without issue.³
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 72nd (Rough Riders) Company, 20th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry.⁴ He fought in the Boer War.⁴ He succeeded as the 3rd Earl Sondes [U.K., 1880] on 1 October 1907.² He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Throwley, of Lees Court, co. Kent [U.K., 1880] on 1 October 1907.² He succeeded as the 7th Baron Sondes, of Lees Court, co.
