William Vesey-Fitzgerald, 2nd Baron Fitzgerald and Vesci was born on 24 July 1783.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. James Fitzgerald and Catherine Vesey, Baroness Fitzgerald and Vesci.2 He died on 11 May 1843 at age 59, unmarried.1
He was given the name of William Fitzgerald at birth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ennis between 1808 and 1818.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1810.1 He held the office of Lord of Treasury in 1810.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1812.1 He held the office of Chancellor of Irish Exchequer between 1812 and 1816.1 On 13 February 1815 his name was legally changed to William Vesey-Fitzgerald by Royal Licence.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Clare between 1818 and 1828.1 He was Envoy to Sweden between 1820 and 1823.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Clare Militia.1 In 1822 he unsuccessfully claimed the title of The White Knight.1 He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of County Clare.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Clare.1 He held the office of Paymaster-General between 1826 and 1828.1 He held the office of President of the Board of Trade between 1828 and 1830.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newport, Cornwall in 1830.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lostwithiel.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron FitzGerald and Vesci, of Clare and Inchicronan, co. Hon. Letitia Vesey-Fitzgerald was born on 28 July 1788.1 She was the daughter of Rt. Hon. James Fitzgerald and Catherine Vesey, Baroness Fitzgerald and Vesci.2 She married Hon. John Leslie-Foster, son of Rt. Rev. William Foster and Catherine Letitia Leslie, on 19 August 1814.1 She died on 1 February 1864 at age 75.1
From 19 August 1814, her married name became Leslie-Foster.1 On 7 May 1860 her name was legally changed to Letitia Foster-Vesey-Fitzgerald by Royal Licence.2
