Catherine Octavia Carden1

     Catherine Octavia Carden was born on 22 March 1868.1 She was the daughter of Charles Wilson Carden and Jane Bolton King.2 She married, firstly, Captain Charles Gustavus Edwardes Edwardes, son of Captain Owen Tucker Edwardes, on 7 October 1888.1 She married, secondly, Victor James Higgon, son of John Donald George Higgon, on 4 October 1905.1 She died on 18 November 1954 at age 86.1
     From 7 October 1888, her married name became Edwardes.1 She was a tennis champion in 1890 at SingaporeG.1 She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Pembrokeshire.1 From 4 October 1905, her married name became Higgon.1 She was with the British Red Cross Society and Girl Guides.1 She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)1 She was a breeder and judge of Sealyham Terriers and Welsh Corgis.1

     Admiral Sir Sackville Hamilton Carden was born on 3 May 1857.1 He was the son of Andrew Carden and Ann Berkeley.2,1 He married, firstly, Mary Louisa Nunn, daughter of Captain Loftus Joshua Nunn, on 1 March 1879.1 He married, secondly, Henrietta Harrison, daughter of William English Harrison, on 8 May 1909.1 He died on 6 May 1930 at age 73.1
     He was educated at H.M.S. Britannia, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1870, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Egyptian War in 1882.1 He was awarded the Khedive's Star in 1882.1 He fought in the Suakim Campaign in 1884.1 He fought in the Benin Campaign in 1897.1 He was Rear-Admiral of the Atlantic Fleet in 1910.1 He was Superintendant of the Malta Dockyard between 1912 and 1914.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was commander of the East Mediterranean Allied Squadrons and Naval Operations at the Dardanelles in March 1915 until incapacitated by illness.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1916.1
