Lt.-Col. John Hervey Knox-Browne was born on 24 March 1841.1 He was the son of Thomas Richardson Browne and Sarah de Montmorency.2 He married Louisa Elizabeth Knox-Gore, daughter of Sir Francis Arthur Knox-Gore, 1st Bt., on 19 December 1867.1 He died on 3 April 1927 at age 86.1
He was given the name of John Hervey Browne at birth.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 12th Lancers.1 On 16 March 1874 his name was legally changed to John Hervey Knox-Browne by Royal Sign-Manual.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, the Duke of Abercorn in 1886.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 9th Brigade, Northern Irish Division (Royal Artillery.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Tyrone.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Tyrone.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Tyrone.1 He lived at Aughentaine Castle, County Tyrone, IrelandG.1

Louisa Elizabeth Knox-Gore was the daughter of Sir Francis Arthur Knox-Gore, 1st Bt.2 She married Lt.-Col. John Hervey Knox-Browne, son of Thomas Richardson Browne and Sarah de Montmorency, on 19 December 1867.1 She died on 22 May 1903.1
