     Claude Charlotte de Gramont is the daughter of Philibert Gramont, Comte de Gramont and Elizabeth Hamilton.1 She married Henry Stafford-Howard, 1st Earl of Stafford, son of William Howard, 1st and last Viscount Stafford and Mary Stafford, Countess of Stafford, on 6 April 1694.1 She died on 14 May 1739.2
     After her marriage, Claude Charlotte de Gramont was styled as Countess of Stafford on 6 April 1694. From 6 April 1694, her married name became Stafford-Howard.1

     John Howard, 1st Duke of Norfolk was born in 1421/22.3 He was the son of Sir Robert Howard and Lady Margaret de Mowbray.4 He married, firstly, Catherine de Moleyns, daughter of Sir William de Moleyns and Marjery Whalesborough, circa 1443.3 He married, secondly, Margaret Chedworth, daughter of Sir John Chedworth, before 22 January 1467.5,3 He died on 22 August 1485, killed in action.
     He fought in the Hundred Years War from 1452 to 1453.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norfolk in 1455.3 He was appointed Knight in 1461.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk in 1461.3 He held the office of Constable of Norwich Castle in 1461.3 He held the office of Constable of Colchester Castle in 1461.3 He fought in the Battle of Towton on 29 March 1461.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Oxfordshire in 1467.3 He held the office of Treasurer of the Household between 1467 and 1474.3 He held the office of Governor of Calais circa 1470.3 He was created 1st Lord Howard [England] on 15 October 1470.3 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1472.3 He succeeded as the 13th Lord Segrave [E., 1295] on 10 November 1481.1 He succeeded as the 12th Lord Mowbray [E., 1295] on 10 November 1481.1 He fought in the Battle of the Firth of Forth in 1482, where he commanded the English fleet.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1483.3 He held the office of Admiral of England, Ireland and Aquitaine in 1483.3 He held the office of Steward of the Duchy of Lancaster in 1483.3 He was created 1st Duke of Norfolk [England] on 28 June 1483.1 He fought in the Battle of Bosworth on 22 August 1485. On 7 November 1485 he was posthumously attainted.1,6 In 1489 his attainder was reversed.1
