     William Napier was born on 17 January 1801.1 He was the son of William Napier and Rosetta MacNaghten.2 He married Mary Ramsay Birnie, daughter of Arthur Birnie, on 17 May 1826.1 He died in March 1864 at age 63.1

     Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Napier, 1st Bt. was born on 26 December 1804.1 He was the son of William Napier and Rosetta MacNaghten.2 He married Charity Grace, daughter of John Grace, on 20 August 1831.1 He died on 9 December 1882 at age 77.1
     He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a practising barrister in 1831.1 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1844.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dublin University in 1848.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1852.1 He held the office of Attorney-General [Ireland].1 He held the office of Lord Chancellor [Ireland] in 1858.1 He held the office of Vice-Chancellor of Dublin University between 1867 and 1880.1 He was created 1st Baronet Napier, of Merrion Square, Dublin [U.K.] on 9 April 1867.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1
