     Sir Miles Stapleton, 1st Bt. was baptised on 19 October 1626.2 He was the son of Gilbert Stapleton and Eleanor Gascoigne.1,2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Longueville, daughter of Sir Thomas Longueville, 2nd Bt..2 He married, firstly, Lady Elizabeth Bertie, daughter of Robert Bertie, 1st Earl of Lindsey and Hon. Elizabeth Montagu, in 1661.2 He died circa 16 February 1706/7, without surviving issue.1 He was buried on 19 February 1706/7.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Stapleton, of Carlton, Yorkshire [England] on 20 March 1661/62.1

     Gilbert Stapleton was the son of Richard Stapleton.1 He married, secondly, Eleanor Gascoigne, daughter of Sir John Gascoigne.2 He married, firstly, Katherine Hungate, daughter of W. Hungate.2 He died circa 11 April 1636.1 He was buried on 14 April 1636.1
     He lived at Carlton, Yorkshire, EnglandG.2

     Lady Elizabeth Bertie was the daughter of Robert Bertie, 1st Earl of Lindsey and Hon. Elizabeth Montagu.1 She married Sir Miles Stapleton, 1st Bt., son of Gilbert Stapleton and Eleanor Gascoigne, in 1661.1 She died on 28 February 1683/84.1
     Her married name became Stapleton.

     Robert Bertie, 1st Earl of Lindsey was born on 16 December 1582.1 He was the son of Peregrine Bertie, 13th Lord Willoughby de Eresby and Lady Mary de Vere.1 He married Hon. Elizabeth Montagu, daughter of Edward Montagu, 1st Baron Montagu of Boughton and Elizabeth Jeffrey, circa 1605.1 He died on 23 October 1642 at age 59, from wounds received in action.
     He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 14th Lord Willoughby de Eresby [E., 1313] on 25 June 1601.1 He was educated at Gray's Inn, London, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in January 1604/5.1 He unsuccessfully claimed the title of Earl of Oxford through his mother.1 He was created 1st Earl of Lindsey, co. Lincoln [England] on 22 November 1626.1 He was Vice-Admiral of the Isle of Rhé Expedition in 1627.1 He held the office of Lord Great Chamberlain on 13 April 1627.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1628.1 He was commander of the fleet to relieve La Rochelle in 1628.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire between 1628 and 1642.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1630.1 He held the office of Governor of Berwick in 1639.1 He gained the rank of General in the Royalist forces.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1642 in the Foot Guards.1 He fought in the Battle of Edgehill on 23 October 1642.      Emily Abingdon is the daughter of John Frederick Abingdon.1 She married Henry Jeffery Flower, 6th Viscount Ashbrook, son of Henry Flower, 5th Viscount Ashbrook and Frances Robinson, on 4 September 1860.1 She and Henry Jeffery Flower, 6th Viscount Ashbrook were divorced on 28 February 1877 with her adultery with a Captain Hugh Sydney Baillie as the cause.1
     From 4 September 1860, her married name became Flower.1 After her marriage, Emily Abingdon was styled as Viscountess Ashbrook on 3 August 1871.

     William Spencer Flower, 7th Viscount Ashbrook was born on 23 March 1830.1 He was the son of Henry Flower, 5th Viscount Ashbrook and Frances Robinson.1 He married Augusta Madeline Henrietta Marton, daughter of George Marton and Lucy Sarah Dallas, on 25 June 1861 at Capernwray Hall, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He died on 26 November 1906 at age 76 at Castle-Durrow, County Kilkenny, IrelandG.1
     He was given the name of William Spencer Walker at birth.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 On 15 July 1847 his name was legally changed to William Spencer Flower.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1851 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of officer in the 52nd Foot.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount Ashbrook [I., 1751] on 14 December 1882.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baron Castle-Durrow, co.
