Frederick Henry Smith, 1st Baron Colwyn was born on 24 January 1859.1 He was the son of Joshua Smith and Elizabeth Whalley.2 He married Elizabeth Ann Savage, daughter of Hamilton Savage, on 3 April 1882.1 He died on 26 January 1946 at age 87.1
He was a manufacturer of India Rubber and Cotton.1 He was a director of Martins Bank.1 He was created 1st Baronet Smith, of Colwyn Bay, co. Denbigh [U.K.] on 9 July 1912.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Carnarvonshire between 1917 and 1918.1 He was created 1st Baron Colwyn, of Colwyn Bay, co.
