     He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1680.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1684.¹ He was Master of the Horse to Prince Rupert.¹ He was Envoy to Hanover, Celle, Brunswick and Dresden between 1689 and 1693.¹

     He was Adjutant to Prince Rupert.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Colt, of St. James's, Westminster, Middlesex [England] on 2 March 1693/94, with a special remainder to his brother John.¹ He was Ensign Yeomen of the Guard.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westminster.¹
