     William Bonar, 7th of Rossie was the son of John Bonar, 6th of Rossie and Margaret Mercer.¹ He married Jean Johnstone, daughter of James Johnstone, 5th of Elphinstone and Margaret Ruthven.¹ He died in February 1601.¹

     Sir Henry Cheney, 1st and last Lord Cheney was the son of Sir Thomas Cheney and Anne Broughton.¹ He married Hon. Joan Wentworth, daughter of Thomas Wentworth, 1st Lord Wentworth and Margaret Fortescue, before 1581.² He died circa September 1587, without surviving male issue.² He was buried on 3 September 1587 at Toddington, Bedfordshire, England^G.² An inquest post mortem was held for his on 19 June 1589 at Deptford Strand, England^G.²
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kent between 1562 and 1567.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1563 by the Queen.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Bedfordshire from 1565 to 1566.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bedfordshire from April 1572 to May 1572.¹ He was created 1st Lord Cheney, of Toddington [England by writ] on 8 May 1572.¹ He lived at Toddington, Bedfordshire, England^G.¹ In October 1586 he was one of the peers on the trial of Mary, Queen of Scots.¹

     Sir Thomas Cheney was the son of William Cheyne.¹ He married, secondly, Anne Broughton, daughter of John Broughton.¹ He married, firstly, Frideswide Frowick, daughter of Sir Thomas Frowyk.¹ He died on 15 December 1558.¹
     He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.)¹ He held the office of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.¹ He lived at Shurland, Isle of Sheppey, Kent, England^G.¹

     Anne Broughton is the daughter of John Broughton.¹ She married Sir Thomas Cheney, son of William Cheyne.¹
     Her married name became Cheyne.¹

     Edward Hales is the son of Sir John Hales, 4th Bt. and Mary Catherine Bealing.¹

     William Cheyne is the son of Sir John Cheney.¹
     He held the office of Constable of Queensborough Castle.¹ He was also known as William Cheney.¹

     John Cheney was the son of Sir Thomas Cheney and Frideswide Frowick.¹ He died at Montreul, France^G, slain, without issue.¹

     Frideswide Frowick was the daughter of Sir Thomas Frowyk.² She married Sir Thomas Cheney, son of William Cheyne.¹ She died in 1528/29.²
     Her married name became Cheney.¹

     Hon. Joan Wentworth was the daughter of Thomas Wentworth, 1st Lord Wentworth and Margaret Fortescue.¹ She married Sir Henry Cheney, 1st and last Lord Cheney, son of Sir Thomas Cheney and Anne Broughton, before 1581.¹ She died on 16 April 1614.¹ She was buried on 17 April 1614 at Cheney Chapel, Toddington, Bedfordshire, England^G.¹
     From before 1581, her married name became Cheney.¹

     Thomas Wentworth, 1st and last Earl of Cleveland was born in 1591.² He was the son of Henry Wentworth, 3rd Lord Wentworth and Anne Hopton.² He married, firstly, Anne Croftes, daughter of Sir John Croftes and Mary Shirley, in 1611.³ He married, secondly, Lucy Wentworth, daughter of Sir John Wentworth, 1st Bt., before 25 October 1638.⁴ He died on 25 March 1667, without surviving male issue.⁵
     He succeeded as the 9th Lord Despenser [E., 1387] on 16 August 1593, de jure.⁴ He was created 4th Lord Wentworth [E., 1529] on 16 August 1593.⁴ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1610.⁴ He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.⁴ He was admitted to Gray's Inn.⁴ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire between 1625 and 1639, joint.⁴ He was created 1st Earl of Cleveland, co.York [England] on 5 February 1625/26.⁵ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire between 1639 and 1642.⁴ He held the office of Captain of the Gentlemen Pensioners from 1642 to 1644.⁴ Between 1644 and 1648 he has held in the Tower of London, when he fled abroad.⁴ He fought in the Battle of Cropredy Bridge on 29 June 1644.⁴ He fought in the 2nd Battle of Newbury on 27 October 1644, where he was captured.⁴ He fought in the Battle of Worcester in 1651, when he was again taken prisoner.⁴ Between 1651 and 1658 he has held in the Tower of London.⁴ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire between 1660 and 1667, joint.⁴
     On his death, the earldom of Cleveland became extinct.⁵
