     Helen Randal Trench was born in 1858.² She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Henry Luke Le Poer Trench and Clara Nugent.¹ She married Brig.-Gen. O'Donnel Colley Grattan, son of Henry Colley Grattan and Lucy Nugent, on 4 January 1877.¹ She died on 2 July 1952.¹
     From 4 January 1877, her married name became Grattan.¹

     Alexander Ruthven of Freeland was the son of William Ruthven, 2nd Lord Ruthven and Janet Halyburton, Lady Dirletoun.² He married Elizabeth Moncreiffe, daughter of William Moncreiffe, 10th of that Ilk and Margaret Murray.¹ He died on 9 October 1599.¹
     He was denounced as a rebel for his part in Rizzio's murder.¹ He lived at Freeland, Scotland^G.¹

     William Moncreiffe, 10th of that Ilk was the son of Sir John Moncreiffe, 9th of that Ilk and Beatrix Forman.² He married Margaret Murray, daughter of Sir Andrew Murray of Balvaird, in 1526.² He died on 15 December 1579.²
     He fought in the Battle of Solway between March 1541/42 and September 1542, where he was captured by the English.²
