Lt.-Col. Duncan Darroch, 6th of Gourock was born on 9 February 1868.2 He was the son of Duncan Darroch, 5th of Gourock and of Torridon and Ann Rickman.2 He married Elizabeth Mabws Boughey, daughter of Colonel George Fletcher Ottley Boughey and Harriet Rose Amy Stuart-Menteth, on 1 October 1898.1 He died on 22 May 1923 at age 55.2
He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.2 He retired from the military in 1910, with the rank of Major, late of the Argyll and Sutherland Highalnders.1 He fought in the First World War, in Gallipoli and Sinai.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Territorial Forces Reserve.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Renfrewshire.2
