Sir John Tobin was born in 1763 at Middle, Braddan, Isle of ManG.1,2 He was the son of Patrick Tobin and Helen Breakill.1,2 He married Sarah Aspinall, daughter of James Aspinall, in 1798.2 He died in 1851.2
He held the office of Mayor of Liverpool between 1819 and 1820.2 He purchased Liscard Hall on the Wirral in 1835.2
