Herman van Malsen Heer van Cuyk was born in 1030.1 He married Ide de Boulogne, daughter of Eustache II, Comte de Boulogne and Ida von Niederlothringen.1 He died in 1080.1
After 28 June 1061 after the Battle at Nederhemert, Emperor Heinrich IV gave him as fief the land of Cuijk (where the old Roman road between Nijmegen and Maastricht crosses the river Maas, and where the city of Grave developed around the castle.)1
