Leonard Nathaniel Goldsmid Montefiore was born on 2 June 1889.1 He was the son of Claude Joseph Goldsmid Montefiore and Thérèse Alice Schorstein.1 He married Muriel Jeanetta Tuck, daughter of Sir Adoph Tuck, 1st Bt. and Jeanette Flatau, on 15 July 1924 at West London Synagogue, Upper Berkeley Street, London, EnglandG.1,2 He died on 23 December 1961 at age 72.1
He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1911 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1919, with the Hampshire Regiment.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1918.1
